National Center on Institutions and Alternatives

The National Center on Institutions and Alternatives (NCIA) is a non-profit organization that provides individuals and families with alternatives to institutionalization and incarceration. The organizations mission is to “change the way society deals with troubled and at-risk individuals, improving the lives of those who might otherwise be treated in a way that is both inhumane and ineffective.” NCIAs services include community-based support, education, mental health treatment, and substance abuse programs. Additionally, the organization advocates for systemic reform and policies that prioritize rehabilitation and reintegration into society over incarceration. NCIA is committed to promoting restorative justice and reducing the negative impact of the criminal justice system on individuals and communities.
