Council of State Governments

The Council of State Governments (CSG) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization in the United States that serves all three branches of government at the state and local levels. CSG provides research, technical assistance, and training on a range of issues, including public safety, justice reinvestment, education, and workforce development. It operates various initiatives and programs, such as the Justice Center, which focuses on criminal justice issues, including reentry, mental health, and substance use disorders. The organizations mission is to promote “excellence in state governance” and strengthen the relationship between the states and the federal government.
