California Department of Health Care Services

The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is responsible for managing and overseeing the states publicly funded health care programs, including Medicaid, the Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and other initiatives that provide health care coverage and support for vulnerable populations. The DHCS works to improve access to high-quality, cost-effective health care services, and to promote health equity across the state. The department collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders, including health care providers, community organizations, and other state agencies, to develop and implement policies and programs that address the health care needs of Californians.
