This presentation was made at the 2023 LEAD Peer Statewide Conference in Sacramento, June 13, 2023.
Peers at the Intersections and Intercepts of our Criminal-Legal and Behavioral Health Systems
This workshop will explore how counties and courts successfully divert adults in crisis while experiencing mental health and substance-use issues, into behavioral health programs and services and away from our jails and prisons. We will use the Sequential Intercept Mapping (SIM) model to visualize the spectrum of intercepts, community and system services, and governance structures. We will also discuss critical peer-support opportunities as well as specific places where we can all collaborate for systemic change.
